Public Economics

The research group on Public Economics promotes the use of economic tools to study public policy issues. The group encourages diversity of approaches from different fields of economics, including but not limited to public finance, labor economics, behavioral economics and political economy. We are interested in policies that are relevant for the Latin America context as well as for other developed and developing economies.

The following are some examples of the topics that have been covered in the recent past: tax compliance; the effects of taxes on behavior; the effects of government expenditure programs; education policies; the gender wage gap; welfare economics and normative economics; the effects of wage transparency; labor informality.
